Choice of touring in Vang Vieng –
- Kayaking an Caving – on the Nam Song River and Tam Sang Cave more or those that are active.
You will travel to Phatang village – around 18 km north of Vang Vieng. After an introduction to the basics of kayaking, we shall set off down the beautiful Nam Song River which offers various small but fun rapids along the way to our first stop at Tham Xang Cave. Here we will walk up to the massive theater like cave while hearing about local history about the area!
After emerging from the cave, a short kayaking will lead us to a picnic spot on the riverside where we shall enjoy our lunch. After lunch, we shall continue down the river until the next stop at the Tham None Cave which is one of the largest caves in Vang Vieng! It served as a bomb shelter for local villagers during the Second Indochina War. However, today it is home to a bat family and the ‘Magic Stone of Vang Vieng’. The final leg of the journey is a gentle paddle downstream to Vang Vieng where we shall arrive just in time to catch the sunset
Or something a little less adventurous !
- Vang Veing exploration by Car – visit a local caves, surrounding villages , farm lands and the Blue Lagoon swimming spot. A gentler way to spend the day !
Heading 2km out of Vang Vieng town we explore the famous caves of Tham Jang, which was once used by the local people as a hideout from Chinese invaders. We also cross the river to Ban Huai Ngae, a very pleasant village where we can explore the different lifestyles of the locals.
Drive out to the countryside and the driver and guide take you to some out of the way secret places: limestone peaks, caves, villages, rice paddies. And you do not spend all the day driving, you will do some hiking as well, to experience peace & the charm of this unique landscape (from Mount Pha Ngeun in particular) or join unusual sites (like Tham Phoukham, a vast cave which houses a Reclining Buddha). After that, a good splash in the beautiful waters of the Blue Lagoon will be very revitalising. The best little swimming hole, the Blue Lagoon, where the river of soft, delicately pale blue flows slowly out of the jungle, deepening in the middle to create a perfect place to swim during those hot afternoons. Best of all, there’s a tree that grows right over the deepest part of the river, with branches perfectly aligned overhead as diving platforms.
We can discus which option you would prefer to do while you are in Luang Prabang, as you have a free day maybe you would like to do both we can had the second tour cost added to your journey for you !

Later, join in an open talk about Buddhism in Laos with monks. We will also have the chance to have further exchange with the community before returning to Luang Prabang for a light lunch with some of the food you will have cooked.
Hop into a vintage tuk-tuk for a leisurely ride around the town. The guide will point out various interesting things to see along the way and tell you more about the history and daily life of the people.
